Origin: Myrtle originated in North Africa and Iran and is now grown in the Mediterranean.

Description: Penetrating and sweet aroma.

History: Myrtle dates back to early Egyptian, Greek and Roman times where it was known to be an aphrodisiac and was often used as an ingredient for love potions, perfumes and wine.

Properties and Indications:

Antiseptic for the skin - useful for dermatitis
Great cleanser and astringent for the skin
Can help with heavy menstruation - regulating qualities
Hemostatic
Good for asthma and other respiratory disorders - Myrtle is a lot more gentle than Eucalyptus and Cajuput

Useful for people with a delicate constitution
